How to pixelate faces
- Choose a photo, or drop or paste one.
- Every face found is pixelated. Bigger faces get bigger blocks.
- Check the result, then download the PNG.
How does it work?
A tiny face detector called YuNet (paper, MIT license) scans your photo right here in your browser. Photos longer than 2000px are scaled down first. Each face is pixelated with a small margin, about eight blocks across.
Does my image leave my device?
No. There is no server to send it to: detection and pixelation run in this browser tab. No account, no watermark.
Is pixelation enough for privacy?
Not always. Pixelation hides the face, but a haircut, a jacket or a familiar place can still give someone away. Text and license plates are left as they are, and pixelated text can sometimes be read back. If someone must not be recognized, remove them from the photo.
